Frankenstein's Monster won't leave me alone.
The following is just a list of random occurrences. And - as always - my mind perks up at recurring patterns.
My middle child's Summer reading list includes FRANKENSTEIN by Mary Shelly.
Two weeks ago I accidentally flipped to a vintage movie on television: THE GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN.
I saw a name on a slip of paper - let's call him "Rasputin" - but then read a Facebook post by a friend from school, who had a boyfriend named "Rasputin". The monster connection? In 1979 I saw her "Rasputin" at a Halloween Party. His only costume was a painted, cardboard "forehead", complete with the Frankenstein monster flattop.
My favorite vintage TV series: THE MUNSTERS.
On my computer: Videos from vintage Saturday morning cartoons, one of which is THE GROOVY GOOLIES, which feature Frankie, who looks just like you know who.
And finally...coming soon to Tallahassee...The national tour of Mel Brook's musical: YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN!
There is nothing significant about these coincidences, but they do lead me to one basic thought: How often have we allowed manufactured monsters - or problems - to creep into our lives?
Always B Positive!
