PLEASE...COME BACK!

Night.   Wife at work (a rarity; she only works two days a week, on weekends).

Showered early.  A chance to relax.   A chance to read.   Or:  Perhaps a chance to go to bed early, for a change.

A soft, warm pillow.  Bed.   But then the voices start whispering:

     "Please...come back!"

I know exactly who they are:  They are the characters with whom I have lived for several years, souls in a yet to be completed series of short novels situated in and around Ybor City in Tampa, FL.  I have completed one and have begun work on the next, a feat which was exacerbated by the fact that I am more in love with the city than with the overall project.  We lived in and around Tampa Bay for years but left in 1997 for a (now aborted) teaching career in Higher Education.

Still, the voices are calling.  I could write more in this blog.  I could continue with some rapturous ode to the alluring sounds of their seductive voices.  Or I could burn more time devising scenarios for my creations, as they fight their way to the inevitable climax, the clash of their opposing wills.

     But I won't!

It is now morning, and for now I have to ignore the voices, make a sandwich and go to work.  But before I do, I will set a time for tonight, when I can revisit my friends who are calling me from my virtual world, as of yet unfinished.

     Always B Positive!
